
Armenia is located in the southwestern region of the Caucasus, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
Borders with Georgia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, Iran to the south, and Turkey to the west.
The area of Armenia is 29,800 square kilometers, and the population is about 3 million (2,977,100 - data 2022).
About 8 million Armenians in the Diaspora, living mainly in Russia (2.5 million), the United States (1.5 million), France (0.5 million) and Georgia (0.4 million) can affect the economic activity of the country. There are also Armenian communities in the following countries: Iran, Lebanon, Poland, Canada, Ukraine, Australia, Israel, Greece and Cyprus.
Armenia was a Soviet republic until its independence in 1991.
